One of the best lawyers of Britain has appointed Alex Carlile, one of Britain's best lawyers to give legal advice to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in the case.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said at a news conference in Dhaka, he agreed with the request of Alex Carlile to give legal advice to Khaleda Zia's case.

Besides, he said that the trial proceedings of these cases are being met by the standards of international human rights, but he will also keep an eye on them, BNP secretary general said.

BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed told the BBC, Alex Carlile's role will be primarily a legal consultant.

He said, advise on how the state is operating lawsuits against Khaleda Zia, whether compliance with the judicial system in the court in respect of these cases.

But Moudud Ahmed directly refuted the BBC's question of whether the allegation was unreliable to Khaleda Zia's legal advisers to Alex Carlile.

He said the country's best lawyer has been handling the chairperson's case.

He explained that joining Alex Carlile with them would strengthen the hands of the defendant in the case.
