Wave of joining BNP in Shibganj: New path for over 200 Jamaat and Awami League leaders and activists
A major change is blowing in the political arena in Shibganj upazila of Bogra. Nearly two hundred leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Shibir, Awami League, Jubo League and Mohila League have recently joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). This joining has added a new dimension to the political equation of Shibganj, which carries special significance in the context of the upcoming national elections.
Joining formalities
A grand function was organized at Maidanhatta High School ground in Shibganj Upazila on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 8 pm. At this meeting, the newly-minted leaders and activists formally joined the party by presenting a bouquet of flowers to Upazila BNP President Mir Shahe Alam. Top BNP leaders, local leaders and activists and a large number of supporters were present at this historic moment.
Those who joined
It is learnt that more than a hundred Jamaat-Shibir activists led by Jamaat leader Jewel Rana and former Shibir leader Redwan Ahmed Babu have joined the BNP flag. In addition, Shibganj Upazila Jubo Mohila League General Secretary Shahana Begum led by Ward Awami League General Secretary Mozam Mia and more than a hundred leaders, activists and supporters of Jubo League and Chhatra League have joined the BNP. This joining has given rise to widespread discussion in the political arena.
Mir Shahe Alam's speech: A symbol of unity
Welcoming the newcomers with flowers at the meeting, Upazila BNP President Mir Shahe Alam said, "This joining is not just a party change, it is a symbol of the people's united movement against tyranny. BNP is now the only hope of the people, and the sheaf of rice is the symbol of the liberation of this country." He urged the newcomers to work tirelessly for the sheaf of rice in the upcoming national elections.
Mir Shahe Alam further said, "It is not enough to just win the paddy sheaf mark in this constituency, we have to give a gift to our leader Tarique Rahman by winning a record number of votes. For that purpose, every worker has to reach the people's homes." He reiterated his commitment to the BNP's policies and ideals, saying, "We will not sell people tickets to heaven through deceit and hypocrisy. We will implement the 31 points announced by Tarique Rahman and benefit the country and the people, Insha Allah."
Chief Guest's Speech
BNP International Affairs Secretary (Australia) Rashedul Haque was present as the chief guest at the function. He said, "The Zia family has been and will be by the side of the people during all the crises of the country. We will say 'no' to Jamaat-Shibir, which is trying to sabotage the elections. They are Indian products, they were created in India. Therefore, our main goal will be to inflict a miserable defeat on this secret organization in the interest of the country."

The meeting, chaired by Union BNP President Sirajul Islam Saju, was addressed by Upazila BNP Senior Vice President Mahbub Alam Manik as the main speaker. Upazila BNP General Secretary Advocate Abdul Wahab, former General Secretary SM Tajul Islam, senior BNP leader Abdur Razzak, Professor Nazrul Islam and Mostafizur Rahman Raja also spoke.
