Ukraine and the European Union will hold a summit in Kyiv on February 3 to discuss financial and military aid. President Volodymyr Zelensky's office said this in a statement on Monday.

"The parties discussed the expected outcome of the Ukraine-EU summit to be held in Kyiv on February 3 and agreed to strengthen preparatory activities," the statement said.
It said the leaders discussed "appropriate" arms supplies to Ukraine and a new $19 billion financial aid program. Zelensky pushed for the first installment to be sent this month.
Last month the EU cleared the way for aid to Ukraine through a so-called "megadeal" that included a minimum global corporate tax rate of 15 percent.
The move followed an impassioned plea by Zelenskiy not to let internal disputes within the 27-nation bloc stand in the way of supporting Kyiv.
